A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) is a contract between an energy generator and an energy supplier. It guarantees that the generator will sell their forecasted power output to the supplier at a pre-agreed price. PPAs typically run for 6–12 months.
PPAs are beneficial for both parties: they provide the generator with a predictable revenue stream, making it easier to secure financing for projects, and allow the energy supplier to lock in a reliable, cost-effective source of power while managing price and supply risks.
If you are a registered Energy Supplier learn how we can help you access a multitude of different technologies from Renewable Generators across the country. e-POWER promised competitive pricing and the best support for all trading through the auction platform.
If you are interested in bidding in our Power Auction you will need to complete a buyer registration form and agree to our standardised PPA. Once we have received these you will receive your secure log in details which will grant you access to the auction.
Ahead of the auction taking place you are able to view the profile of each asset which has been listed on the auction. You can review the generation technology, available volumes, and site locations before deciding where to bid.
When a power auction is live, you are bidding for the right to receive electricity from renewable generators over an agreed supply period. Some auctions also allow you to secure the electricity together with its associated certificates, where these are included by the generator.
Bidding opens on our platform at 10am on the day of the auction and will continue until no further bids are received. In some cases, this may mean the auction runs into the following day. Each bidding window lasts 30 minutes; if no counter-bid is placed within this time, the lot will be awarded to the highest bidder.
If your bid is successful, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for the secured site will be issued. These contracts confirm your entitlement to the renewable energy generated, along with any associated certificates where included by the generator.
We handle all generator and contract administration for you, so you only need to deal with one counterparty throughout the trading and settlement process.
Our customer support team manages the full process for you, from power purchase agreements and billing to settlements, imbalance charges, and metering queries, so you can trade with confidence.
Whether you generate through wind, solar, biomass, hydro, waste incineration or landfill gas, there is a market for your power. Electricity supply companies have obligations to supply electricity from renewable sources and will purchase power from renewable generators to meet their requirements. Here at e-POWER we offer a hassle-free option for generators and potential purchasers to come together to trade through our online auction.
You give us information such as the type of energy you generate, the size of your generating station(s), your location and some historic data on your generation if you have it.
We calculate an expected price you could receive per MWh generated, based on your information
Once you have decided to list your power in the auction, you will need to sign the Agency Agreement and review the standardized PPA, ensuring you are comfortable with its terms, as this agreement will be required once your asset’s power is sold.
Prior to the auction, you will work alongside our industry experts to agree a reserve price for your asset. If this price is not met during the auction, no sale will take place and no listing fees will be incurred. If the reserve price is met or exceeded, the asset will be sold to the highest bidder.
Once the auction has ended, we inform you what has been sold and the price you received for your electricity. Within a few days we will then send you the Power Purchase Agreement, which you will have received ahead of the auction, to sign to formalise the sale of your energy with the purchaser, and they will then register your meter(s).
We manage all aspects of the billing and settlement process once your PPA begins. Upon receipt of the half-hourly data, this is used to invoice the off-taker accordingly. Payment is typically received three weeks after the month in which the energy is generated.
If you operate a renewable generation site, you can sell your excess electricity into the market across technologies such as wind, solar, biomass, and hydro. Energy suppliers and large organisations purchase this power and the associated certificates to meet renewable energy targets.

Renewable electricity is sold by generators that operate wind farms, solar parks, hydro stations, biomass plants, and other renewable assets. These generators use power purchase agreements to sell their output to energy suppliers and large electricity users over agreed contract periods.
PPAs allow generators to secure predictable income while buyers gain direct access to renewable electricity.
PPAs are purchased by energy suppliers and large commercial or industrial energy users. Suppliers buy power to supply homes and businesses, while corporates use PPAs to cover their own electricity consumption and support sustainability commitments.
Both types of buyers use PPAs to secure long term renewable power at known prices.
PPAs give generators predictable income for their electricity, reducing exposure to volatile wholesale markets. They also make projects easier to finance by providing long term revenue certainty.
For many renewable sites, PPAs are a core part of their commercial strategy.
PPAs are playing an increasingly important role as more organisations move toward renewable energy targets and long term price stability. As demand for clean electricity grows, PPAs continue to be a key way to connect generators with buyers.
They are widely used for both existing renewable assets and new project development.
Buyers and generators can achieve better results by accessing competitive marketplaces that bring multiple counterparties together. Auctions and trading platforms allow prices and contract terms to be set by real market demand rather than one to one negotiations.
Using a specialist platform also simplifies contracting, settlement, and ongoing administration.
