How e-POWER works

What's e-POWER?

Our auctions provide a simple route to market for generators selling electricity and associated renewable benefits to the highest bidder. Our e-POWER auctions are held monthly to enable generators to come to market when they want.

This is how it works:

For generators (sellers)

  1. Sign our Agency Agreement, which appoints us to act on your behalf to sell your power to the highest bidder.
  2. Provide details about your generating site(s) by filling out this simple facility information form.
  3. If you have it, e-mail a spreadsheet of half hourly data to hello@epower.net. Suppliers tend to bid higher if they have a good idea of historical performance (if you are a new generator, just provide us with your expected export profile).
  4. You can specify a reserve price if you wish.
  5. You can opt for a contract period of your choice, but the norm is either 6 or 12 months.
  6. On the day of the auction you can see how bidding is progressing on your site(s) via a viewing window, if requested. Alternatively you can wait to be informed of the results. Either way, we'll email you directly the bidding is concluded on each of your sites.
  7. The e-POWER PPA, amended with price and names of parties, is sent to you (and the supplier) to sign.
  8. The supplier registers your meter.

For suppliers (bidders)

  1. Before each auction we invite suppliers to register to participate in the auction.
  2. In each auction, you bid for the right to receive electricity from renewable generating stations for the specified period.
  3. You are given a username and password to gain entry to the auction where you can view the sites on offer in advance.
  4. On the day the auction starts, log on to the e-POWER website and formally make bids for the generation from individual sites. There is a 90 minute bidding window in the auction. If no higher bid is made within the bidding window, the hammer comes down on that site.
  5. Bidding takes place over our secure website. During the auction, you can see current highest bids, how long the bidding window remains open and the final bid price. Due to the competitive nature of the auction, large numbers of bids are made with auctions lasting several days if there are a large number of sites.
  6. PPAs for the sites you win at the auction are sent to you (and the generator) to sign. These give you the right to all the electricity generated and all the associated benefits (ROCs, REGOs) that may apply.
